BBSes. Now *there's* a word that induces instant nostalgia. Many of the 
original members of this list met on a BBS in Bangalore, as sparsely 
chronicled on the silk-list page [1]. Chris' post also inspired me to do 
some semi-random googling and I was pleasantly surprised that, in addition 
to my early 1996 article on BBSes [2], there was this nice piece by Shiv 
Sastry [3] in his column [4] on the JIPMER website [5].

Going through the various pieces Shiv wrote, I recognised several fragments 
of conversations past, including some here. It was an altogether pleasant 
experience, even when I found a thinly-disguised mention of myself in one 
of those pieces...:)
