The makers of American Desi are smart, they knew how
to make money. They could read the pulse of the
average movie goer. I don't think they were ever
confused - they successfully conned lots of people
into believing their claim
 that the movie is a sensitive exploration into the
lives of Indian Americans. The pre screening publicity
and reviews were misleading enough to make even
discerning people go watch it only to come out feeling
dismayed. 

I read a few newspaper reviews here - even those that
criticize the movie are  careful - may be the feeling
is that it is politically incorrect to criticize a
"cross cultural" effort - yours is 
 the only honest appraisal I have seen till date.
