Re: [silk] Er, Are We, Like, Confused Or Something?
Curious: I felt constrained to enter the debate for fear of offending
anyone. I suppose I lived in the US for too long. A salutary reminder....

| Make the title of my film
| "We're Not Confused, We're Just Dishonest" ;-)

| Sounds like so much of the hype that surrounds novels by NRIs. I regret
| spending $23 on Suri's "Death of Vishnu." But we live and learn. Won't go

| Odd situation.
| I expect the "anything-exotic-has-to-be-good BS from the (white) American
| press, but it gets nauseating when desis here do it also. I remember
vaguely
| when it was announced Purva Bedi would appear in an ER episode. SAJA's
| 'voice' Sree Srinivasan gushed along the lines of how an Indian-American
had
| made it, we should be so proud of her, go tell everyone to watch and make
| sure she gets the credit she deserves. All proper South Asian
| journalist-types fell into line with more of the same.
|
| A sane voice finally posted something like "shoudn't we see if she can
act,
| first?"
